The film follows Wendy Christensen (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a high school senior who visits an amusement park for a graduation celebration. While boarding the "Devil’s Flight" roller coaster, Wendy experiences a terrifyingly vivid premonition of the ride derailing and killing everyone on board.
Her panicked reaction results in several students being removed from the ride just before the disaster occurs exactly as she foresaw. However, as the survivors soon learn, Death does not like being cheated. Wendy and her friend Kevin Fischer (Ryan Merriman) discover that photographs taken at the park contain hidden clues about how each survivor is destined to die, leading to a desperate race to break the cycle.
